Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko (ZSSK) and RS Lease are continuing their cooperation, which is making a significant contribution to the modernization of rail transport in Slovakia. Under the new lease agreement, which follows on from the tender in September 2024, we will supply ZSSK with 15 modern Siemens Vectron locomotives, with the option of extending the order by a further 15 units.
We delivered the first two locomotives (193 025-4 and 193 032-0) on December 6, 2024, and they are already in operation on Slovakian tracks. The next three locomotives – 193 026-2, 193 027-0, and 193 029-6 –will be delivered in the coming days. These five locomotives, featuring the new ZSSK design, will begin operating on international routes between Slovakia and the Czech Republic and will be included in the new timetable.
We plan to deliver another five locomotives by the end of 2025 and the remaining five by the end of 2026. These locomotives will expand their operations to key routes, including the Bratislava – Košice and Bratislava – Vienna via Marchegg connections. They will also find their place on seasonal connections to Split.

New design as part of the ZSSK campaign
The locomotives feature modern decals that reflect the ZSSK campaign "We keep Slovakia moving." This design emphasizes the dynamism, reliability, and environmental sustainability of rail transport. The slogan highlights the important role of all ZSSK employees who ensure the country's mobility on a daily basis, while motivating people to join the ZSSK team. This initiative plays a key role in the development of rail transport and talent acquisition.
Cutting-edge technology on the railways
Siemens Vectrons represent advanced technology in rail transport. They are equipped with the ETCS Level 2 system, which guarantees safe operation on modernized European tracks. With a maximum speed of 200 km/h and an output of 6.4 MW, they can reliably serve key domestic and international lines.
Benefits for passengers and ZSSK employees
These new locomotives will significantly contribute to improving the quality of train connections. They offer greater reliability, reduce delays, and provide better working conditions. Their environmental features, including lower emissions and energy consumption, also support sustainable rail transport.
