Did you know that up to 25% of greenhouse gases in the EU are generated by transport? It is therefore no surprise that the EU is looking for all possible solutions to reverse this trend.
Railways produce only 0.5% of emissions and are among the most environmentally friendly modes of transport. In addition, trains are very safe, modern, and affordable.
For these reasons, the European Union is trying to encourage people to travel by train whenever possible.
This is also reflected in the decision to make 2021 the European Year of Rail.
We are pleased that the idea is also supported by Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko, which has leased 10 locomotives from us.
However, the machine with the designation 383.110 will be a little more special than the others. It recently received new decals referring to the European Year of Rail.
The process of applying the stickers to the locomotive, which took place at the Bratislava depot, usually takes two days. The surface of the machine is not damaged in any way, as it is protected by a layer of varnish. Thanks to this, the stickers are easy to apply and remove.
Entries for the competition announced by ZSSK could be submitted by individuals and graphic design studios. This year, the expert jury was most impressed by the idea of Šimon Lukáč, who came up with this design.
Don't worry, you won't only see this imaginative train design virtually.
The locomotive will run as express trains RR 701 and 708 on the Bratislava – Žilina route and also as InterCity 44 and 45 on the Bratislava – Košice route.
According to RS Lease director Tibor Čunderlík, it will not only be in service this year, but for a period of two years.
So if you find yourself at one of the stations these trains pass through, keep an eye out. You might see locomotive 383.110 in person.
